mux update: metric & fanfarlo

I made this update a couple weeks ago but forgot to mention it in a post. There’s probably no need to introduce Metric or the lead single off their new album Fantasies (which is set to release in mid-April) because the song is already all over the radio. The other track is a bit older (2007) from the band Fanfarlo and it’s from the self-titled single You Are One Of The Few Outsiders Who Really Understands Us. It randomly came up on last.fm a month ago and I listened to it quite a bit. It’s got that same great big sound as the Marching Band track also on my muxtape.

Also, not sure why the twitter plugin for my blog was posting all those random twitters. I certainly don’t speak Danish or whatever other languages came up.

mux update: marching band & plushgun

I’ve made another update to mux.awardtour. First is Gorgeous Behaviour by Swedish pop-duo Marching Band. The track is off their debut LP Spark Large which is really quite good. The song, like the album, has a really rich musical ensemble and fantastic 2-part harmonies with a really catchy call-and-response chorus. I, sadly, first heard the song on How I Met Your Mother. The 2005 version of me would be very unimpressed by my 2008 lack of indie cred.

Second is Just Impolite by Plushgun off their debut self-titled EP. Like Marching Band, the band is a duo and the song also features some really nice 2-part vocal harmonies. The sound is could easily be compared to MGMT and since the band is a duo from Brooklyn I’m sure that comparison will be near constant.
