Unless your GC number was your US phone number, it isn’t a necessary requirement for an account. I have a GC number in NY, which forwards to my local Ottawa number. Use it all the time.
I’ve also heard talk that they’re going to extend GoogleVoice/GC into Canadian and European markets. Guess you’ll just have to wait for a TO number!
