You're right that the rise in commodity prices was not caused by the credit-crunch. They are both in part side-effects of the housing crisis. It yet seems that the trillions lost in the sub-prime fiasco is now being clawed back by gradually increasing the prices of commodities the entire world relies on. I'm not sure what access the 3 billion people out there living on less than $2/day have to China's hand-outs, but I guarantee they are now eating even less food than they were before.
