No offense, Tyler, but that’s going to be a bust. It looks like something you’d find - but never buy - on the home shopping network, unless you’re a 45 year-old housewife or a senior citizen looking to be “with it” on the tech front.
Couldn’t they just incorporate software for an ipod/zune/mediaplayer? Wouldn’t thave have been easier?
it is indeed damn ugly.
nice counterpoint
If Apple made an iPod Touch that was twice as big as the current one, they’d have the most rocking eBook reader on the planet. And Apple already does fast PDF rendering with OS X, so it seems quite doable.
long term reading on a huge ass iPod touch would be kinda hard on the eyes. don’t get me wrong, the kindle has it’s flaws but eink is also pretty compelling. I’ve used a sony e-reader before (which uses e-ink) and it is quite readable.

tyler’s totally right. the ipod screen is optimized for colors etc… the kindle is a “e-ink” or in other words a highly specialized screen for black text on white background, a lot easier on the eyes. mom&pop would never read more than a page or 2 on an LCD.
Andy Ihnatko was going on about how great this thing was on the Macbreak Weekly podcast.
Favourable review of the device.
